Scott Street Traffic Project Begins July 7, 2025

The City of Missoula’s Public Works & Mobility Department is scheduled to begin an important traffic safety project at the intersection of Scott and Phillips streets with a start date planned for July 7, 2025, and with completion expected prior to the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
This project involves construction of an urban mini roundabout at the Scott/Phillips intersection, upgraded pedestrian crossing facilities, streetlights, stormwater drainage improvements, and street restriping. This project will address traffic safety concerns such as speeding on Scott St. and delays for traffic turning off of Phillips St. The improvements will also help with added traffic pressure from commercial and residential developments in the Northside Neighborhood.
Construction requires closure of the Scott and Phillips streets intersection and Scott Street Bridge, so detours for through traffic have been established for this major north-south route over the railroad tracks. Drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians who normally travel through this intersection should plan an alternate route during construction. A detour map and additional project information are provided on the City’s website at www.ci.missoula.mt.us/2839/Transportation-Projects. Please drive slowly and cautiously near the construction area and along the detour routes.
The Public Works & Mobility Department appreciates everyone’s patience as we work to create a safer intersection for all users.
