Our Engagement Philosophy

The Our Missoula project will utilize continuous, relationship-based engagement that brings the whole community along. Our engagement approach focuses on three key areas. These areas are: collaborative education, sharing experiences, and building awareness of key issues. To achieve these goals, we are working to build meaningful relationships with community members that are based on trust and transparency.

We are engaging the community early and often throughout this process. There will be engagement opportunities during each of the six project phases that will range from small focus groups to large community-wide events. You can also expect to see the Our Missoula team at events around the city, at your organization's monthly meeting, and in other places throughout the community.

    Thursday, October 9th

    Drop in anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Brief presentation at 5:30 p.m.

    Missoula County Floriculture Building

    1101 South Avenue West

Please join the City of Missoula for a Zoning Open House where the Our Missoula Team will share the new proposed zoning map and development regulations for the proposed zoning districts. Come learn about what these zoning updates may look like in your neighborhood and share your thoughts. Food and kids' activities will be provided.

After years of gathering public input and ideas, the City of Missoula is updating its zoning map and development codes to better reflect the community vision that was adopted in the Our Missoula 2045 Land Use Plan. This is the final step in the Our Missoula process.

Zoning is a set of regulations that determines how land is used and developed. It determines what types of development can be built in different areas of a city (known as zoning districts) and regulates the shape and size of parcels and buildings. A zoning map is a regulatory map that indicates the location of zoning districts across the city and the zoning of individual parcels. Zoning is important because it shapes how Missoula looks and feels for years to come, and how homes, businesses, parks, and transportation connect to make our community more livable.

As a result of this project, the City will be adopting a new zoning map and new zoning regulations for the entire city. We want you to be a part of this process!
