Missoula's Hip Strip

The Hip Strip expansion public engagement project is focused on extending parking management practices into the Hip Strip area—a vibrant corridor celebrated for its unique boutiques, eateries, and entertainment venues.

Drawing on insights from a comprehensive parking plan study, the project is designed to address recurring challenges such as high occupancy levels, inefficient turnover, and accessibility shortfalls. By introducing a data-driven approach to rate-setting and enforcement, the initiative aims to balance parking supply and demand, thereby improving traffic flow, enhancing pedestrian safety, and spurring economic vitality along the Hip Strip.

A key element of the project is its commitment to public engagement, ensuring that residents, business owners, and community stakeholders have a meaningful role in shaping a parking system that is both equitable and responsive to Missoula’s evolving urban landscape.
