The Missoula City Council adopted Ordinance 3672 restricting the display of tobacco products and the sale of flavored tobacco products.
Background and Support
Research indicates that flavored tobacco is more appealing to young people. The intent of the ordinance is to protect public health and welfare by reducing access to flavored tobacco products. The ordinance also aims to help reduce the number of minors addicted to nicotine in Missoula. The Missoula City-County Board of Health adopted a resolution to reduce use of flavored tobacco products and voted to support the ordinance. The ordinance also has the support of the governing boards of both major hospitals in Missoula, as well as from many community members.
