Surveying Begins for Downtown Safety, Access, and Mobility Project

Downtown Missoula business owners received letters last week about upcoming survey work on city streets as part of the Downtown Safety, Access, and Mobility Project (Downtown SAM). This major infrastructure effort, primarily funded by a $24 million federal RAISE grant awarded in June 2023, marks the beginning of the project's design phase.

“This is the start of the design process,” said Megan McMeekin, project manager for the City of Missoula. “We need to understand existing conditions before developing design concepts. This project is not yet designed. Our grant agreement includes specific requirements, but we have flexibility in how we design the project.”
